At Manning Park Resort, staff lifestyle perks include a free season’s pass to the mountain, discounts at the resort, inexpensive staff accommodation, and free equipment rentals.

Community staff residence at Manning Park Resort is one of the many benefits of being part of our team. Residences are a short walk or bike from the resort, and a staff bus is available to transport employees to the ski area during winter.

In employee residences, everyone gets their own room. Furnished common rooms, including kitchens, bathrooms, and living rooms are shared between 2-10 people. At Manning Park Resort, we offer free rent with a monthly utilities charge of $260. This includes hydro, wifi, and telephone (long-distance charges free within North America). 

We do not allow pets or smoking in staff houses. Employees are responsible for cooking for themselves, cleaning staff houses, and providing their own bedding and personal items. If you have a motorhome or trailer, you are welcome to park it in the staff residence area. Septic, electricity and running water are available; utilities and fees to be determined.

Reports To: Ski Hill Operations Manager

Position Overview:

Groomers are the folks who spend their nights farming all the snow, “laying down corduroy” for the following days’ sliders. They also spend their time taming new snowfalls, rebuilding ski runs, building terrain features for terrain parks and generally creating an awesome skiing/boarding experience for guests.

Job Requirements:


  •   To provide a good groomed snow surface for the skiers
  •  To operate the grooming machine and attachments in a safe and efficient manner
  •  To prevent damage to the machine through proper operation and regular maintenance
  •  To groom the priority ski runs on a daily basis
  •  To farm snow as required (in a matter that will conserve snow)
  •  To be knowledgeable of conditions to ensure snow is not (wasted)
  •  To radio in an accurate snow report each morning
  •  To assist mechanics in maintenance and repair
  •  To work on machines in emergency situations during operation to ensure the slopes are groomed.
  •  To maintain grooming machines as per daily log, e.g. check all fluids, pressures etc.
  •  To phone for snow removal at ski area as required.
  •  To let Ski patrol know in advance of any hazards on the hill
  •  May operate snow removal equipment if capable.

Position Overview: Manning Park Resort is seeking an Assistant General Manager (AGM). The successful candidate will be instrumental in helping set the course for our daily operations and growing our year-round business. He/she will assist in managing, leading and operating all aspects of the Resort to its fullest.

General Responsibilities: Reporting to the General Manager, the AGM will be an individual that gets things done and is not afraid to lead by example. In addition to working closely with our Resort managers, the AGM will interact directly with our talented staff.

General Responsibilities: 

  • Instruct and coach guests of all ages and abilities to ski or snow board within instructor’s certification level in a group or one-on-one setting
  • Properly assess ski students of their ability and place them in the proper groups
  • Set up and take down “Kinder Ski” equipment
  • Assist Ski School Director in lesson planning
  • Adherence and teaching of the Alpine Responsibility Code

Requirements/Qualifications:

We would like this key member to have experience in any or all of the following programs: 

  • Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance certification required, Levels 1-4. Or, Canadian Snow Board Alliance Instructors certification required, Levels 1-4 (preferably with 1 year or more of experience).
  • Knowledge of the Alpine Responsibility Code

Position Overview: As a member of the Housekeeping Team responsible for coordinating the housekeeping team with the training, cleaning and maintaining of guest accommodations and public areas. As well as periodically staff housing and public and back of the house areas within the Resort.

General Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all aspects of the Resort’s guest accommodations are cleaned to the prescribed standards of cleanliness.
  • Ensure that stock levels are maintained and ordered as required
  • Train and supervise the housekeeping, laundry and janitorial staff
  • Scheduling and assigning of daily tasks

  • Record maintenance issues and ensure units and equipment are in good repair

Reports To: Ski Area Operations Manager,  Lift Maintenance Coordinator

Position Overview: The position of ski area lift mechanic is a full-time, year round, position with a significant amount of responsibility attached. 

Ski area lift mechanics install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot lift equipment, as well as assist lift operations with the startup and shut down of the lifts daily. They also read diagrams and manufacturers’ manuals, fit bearings, rebuild sheave trains, service grips, and perform other mechanical procedures requiring specialized training. They work at great heights, in all weather conditions, at any time of the day or night. In addition, they are required to maintain our fleet of grooming equipment. 

General Responsibilities: 

  • To perform all duties assigned by Lift Maintenance Manager and Ski area operations manager
  • Ensure all lifts are maintained to code and manufacturer’s recommendations
  • Assist in emergency situations
  • Report and rectify any unsafe situations
  • Keep a clean, organized and safe work environment
  • Use courtesy and respect when dealing with management, staff, co-workers, and guests at all times

Requirements:

  • Millwright or min 3rd year apprentice with ski industry experience
  • Good communications skills, self-motivated, mature, dependable, timely and able to work well with others
  • Willing and able to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work at excessive heights
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Ability to operate snowmobiles and 4×4 trucks in a safe and responsible manner

  • Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
  • Uses our Standard Recipes for preparation and portioning of all products; portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
  • Understands and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.

Position Overview: As a member of the Food and Beverage team, the Kitchen Helper will perform a variety of duties as required during the course of their shift. The primary duties will be as a dishwasher but can include but are not limited to food preparation, janitorial and lifting and carrying of products and supplies.

General Responsibilities:

  • Washing and cleaning dishes, glassware, cutlery, kitchen equipment and tools.
  • Operation of manual feed, double rack, low-temperature dishwasher.
  • Janitorial – vacuuming, sweeping, mopping of kitchen and designated areas
  • Maintain entire kitchen area, staff room, staff washrooms and occasionally public washrooms.
  • Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming of restaurant main areas in absence of janitor.
  • Maintain grease trap on daily basis to ensure as little grease goes to the sewage treatment plant. – a.m. & p.m. shift
  • Major clean-up of kitchen at night such that entire kitchen and staff area is clean for next day.
  • Food Prep Duties – slicing and cutting of foods with commercial slicer and kitchen knives.
  • Food preparation from raw materials state to prepped state.
  • Helping cooks in whatever capacity called upon.
  • Mainly prep duties for breakfast and lunch menus but could do dinner prep as well.
  • Lifting and Carrying – unloading grocery deliveries and moving stock by hand for restaurant and the Country Store: Weight loads as heavy as 40 kilograms.
  • Some stock moving may require driving a company vehicle (require valid BC driver license).
  • Ensuring loading bay is clear of stock & garbage at end of shift
  • Ensure rags are taken to lodge at end of night shift & picked up at beginning of morning shift

Position Overview: Childminding

  • This position is to provide a safe, fun environment for children at the ski hill daycare centre. 
  • Applicants must enjoy working with children
  • *Applicants travelling on a work visa must have clearance for working with children.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

Applicant will be responsible to provide the following:
  • Client immunization record
  • Criminal records check for working with children
  • Doctors letter
  • Manager Medical Clearance Form (obtained from the Health department)
  • Minimum 3 written references from former employers/community professionals
  • Previous babysitting or daycare experience
  • First aid a definite asset

Position Overview: As a member of the Country Store Team, the Sales Clerk is involved in all aspects of the retail operations while providing exceptional customer service. This includes but is not limited to cash handling and sales, restocking, cleaning and assisting with the ordering of merchandise and products.

General Responsibilities: 

  • Provide exceptional customer service while assisting guests.
  • Assist with inventorying and ordering of food, beverage and souvenir products.
  • Restocking and merchandising of retail products and merchandise.
  • Receive and price new inventory.
  • Inform Country Store Supervisor of repeatedly asked for items that are not part of the regular inventory.
  • Able to accurately register sales and exchange payment to ensure balanced floats at the end of each shift.
  • Maintain a clean work space and shopping environment.

Requirements:

  • Must be 19 years of age or older (legal age to sell alcohol)
  • Possess or willing to acquire Serving It Right certification
  • Previous retail and cash handling skills are definite assets

Position Overview: This position is for a Maintenance worker who is ticketed in at least one area of maintenance (electrical / plumbing / or gas fitting).  Will have a well-rounded general working knowledge of specific building trades (ie: plumbing, electrical, boilers, mechanics, carpentry, and other maintenance areas).  Able to do maintenance duties and make sound decisions and be able to make the call should more skilled trades or services be required.   

Requirements:

  • To have good working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, boilers and other areas maintenance and be ticketed in at least one (Copy of Certification required)
  • Good physical health
  • Flexible in duties and shifts.
  • Effective and positive
  • Must have some basic computer skills.

  • Experience operating small or large equipment like bobcat, loader, backhoe, etc. an asset.

Reports To: Country Store Supervisor

Position Overview: As a member of the Country Store Team, the Sales Clerk is involved in all aspects of the retail operations while providing exceptional customer service. This includes but is not limited to cash handling and sales, restocking, cleaning and assisting with the ordering of merchandise and products.

General Responsibilities: 

  • Provide exceptional customer service while assisting guests.
  • Assist with inventorying and ordering of food, beverage and souvenir products.
  • Restocking and merchandising of retail products and merchandise.
  • Receive and price new inventory.
  • Inform Country Store Supervisor of repeatedly asked for items that are not part of the regular inventory.
  • Able to accurately register sales and exchange payment to ensure balanced floats at the end of each shift.
  • Maintain a clean work space and shopping environment.

Requirements:

  • Must be 19 years of age or older (legal age to sell alcohol)
  • Possess or willing to acquire Serving It Right certification
  • Previous retail and cash handling skills are definite assets
  • Responsible and self-motivated individual able to assess and prioritize necessary duties
  • Able to work in a high-paced environment as both an individual and team player

Position Overview:

Groomers are the folks who spend their nights farming all the snow, “laying down corduroy” for the following days’ sliders. They also spend their time taming new snowfalls, rebuilding ski runs, building terrain features for terrain parks and generally creating an awesome skiing/boarding experience for guests.

Job Requirements:


  •   To provide a good groomed snow surface for the skiers
  •  To operate the grooming machine and attachments in a safe and efficient manner
  •  To prevent damage to the machine through proper operation and regular maintenance
  •  To groom the priority ski runs on a daily basis
  •  To farm snow as required (in a matter that will conserve snow)
  •  To be knowledgeable of conditions to ensure snow is not (wasted)
  •  To radio in an accurate snow report each morning
  •  To assist mechanics in maintenance and repair
  •  To work on machines in emergency situations during operation to ensure the slopes are groomed.
  •  To maintain grooming machines as per daily log, e.g. check all fluids, pressures etc.
  •  To phone for snow removal at ski area as required.
  •  To let Ski patrol know in advance of any hazards on the hill
  •  May operate snow removal equipment if capable.

General Responsibilities: 

  • Instruct and coach guests of all ages and abilities to ski or snow board within instructor’s certification level in a group or one-on-one setting
  • Properly assess ski students of their ability and place them in the proper groups
  • Set up and take down “Kinder Ski” equipment
  • Assist Ski School Director in lesson planning
  • Adherence and teaching of the Alpine Responsibility Code
  • General on hill tasks and maintenance as required
  • May be required to assist Alpine Shop Technicians or Child Minding personnel

Requirements/Qualifications:

We would like this key member to have experience in any or all of the following programs: 

  • Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance certification required, Levels 1-4. Or, Canadian Snow Board Alliance Instructors certification required, Levels 1-4 (preferably with 1 year or more of experience).
  • Knowledge of the Alpine Responsibility Code
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Must be approachable, dependable, and a strong team player
  • Previous knowledge of the ski hill an asset.

Reports To: Ski Hill Operations Manager

General Responsibilities: 

  • Continually strive to exceed the expectations of our guests.
  • Ensure the safety of our staff and guests by filling the risk management responsibilities throughout the ski hill property.
  • Provide exemplary care to guests requiring first-aid treatment or mountain rescue.
  • May be required to fill the role of an OFA-3 work place first –aid attendant.
  • Participate and successfully complete all designated Resort operational training (i.e. lift evacuation, risk management education, major incident accident investigation).
  • Lead or co-ordinate emergency responses as directed.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient delivery of the Resort’s ski patrol program by completing and adhering to all required operational and a safety procedures.
  • Participate as a team member or lead Major Incident Investigations.
  • Establish and maintain ski area boundaries, closures, hazard signage and fencing.
  • Conduct inventory of first-aid supplies and on-hill equipment.
  • Conduct on the snow inspections on a daily basis of all ski hill terrain and proficiently report and/or address deficiencies or safety concerns (i.e. grooming conditions, natural hazards, and snow conditions.)
  • Provide advice and direction to the volunteer (CSP) Ski Patrol members in such a way   as to promote a team orientated, cooperative approach to the delivery of the overall ski patrol program. Report to the Outside Operations Manager or designate on issues requiring and/or recognition of exemplary CSP performance.
  • May be called upon to act as a liaison with CSP members, BC Ambulance Service RCMP, PEP or local SAR personnel as needed.
  • Daily gathering and recording of weather and snow conditions.
  • Carry on concise and clear radio Communications.

Requirements:

Successful applicants will have:

  • Valid OFA 3 First Aid Certificate (preferred) or, CSP or equivalent wilderness first aid certificate
  • Above average skiing or snowboarding ability, competent in all snow conditions.
  • Excellent people skills: Out going, friendly and helpful.
  • Good physical condition; Able to work in outdoor, adverse weather conditions and perform manual labor. Able to carry first-aid packs (up to 30kg), expertly handle rescue toboggans in diverse snow conditions.
  • Team oriented.
  • Ability to remain calm and react in a quick, thoughtful manner in the event of an emergency.

Position Overview: The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day and scheduling for the Alpine Guest Services Building, which includes our Rental Shop and Snow Pros 

General Responsibilities:

  • Assists with hiring, training, and scheduling all departmental staff as well as monitoring day to day staffing levels.
  • The Supervisor works with other Resort managers and coordinators, and specifically oversees, the delivery of lessons and processing rental gear.
  • The Supervisor will liaise with the Ski Area Operations Manager to resolve any critical customer concerns
  • Various administrative duties may include: managing instructor uniforms, start-up and termination packages, managing booking files, calendars and schedules, ordering operating and Retail supplies, etc.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Must hold some form of certification from either CSIA or CASI
  • Have excellent customer service and organizational skills
  • Strong skiing/boarding ability
  • Ski & Snowboard industry experience
  • Previous supervisory or management experience
  • Excellent communication and supervisory skills
  • Goal orientated with superior time management abilities
  • Excellent guest service skills; previous customer service experience an asset
  • Previous cash handling and scheduling experience an asset
  • Strong team leader, with the ability to keep staff motivated and focused
